The Georgium in Dessau combines a palace with an art collection and an expansive landscape garden. The names Georgium and Georgengarten therefore belong together on a shared main page. From here, individual buildings can be explored in more depth without losing sight of the grounds as a whole.

Understanding palace, park and landscape
Georgium Palace and the Anhalt Picture Gallery
Georgium Palace houses the Anhalt Picture Gallery. For visitors interested in art, this is a compelling reason in its own right to discover the grounds. The exterior architecture and the museum should be explained separately: the park view conveys the palace’s setting, while interior shots and views of individual works require their own editorial preparation.
Georgengarten and Beckerbruch
The landscape garden merges into the Beckerbruch. This very relationship between the designed garden and the floodplain landscape is a rewarding focus for a series of images. One photograph can show a clearly defined garden space, another the transition into a more open or more densely wooded environment. Which locations are suitable for this will be determined by the available photographs.
Seven Pillars, Ionic Temple and further park structures
The Roman Ruin is also known as the Seven Pillars. Together with the Ionic Temple, the Fremdenhaus, the Red and White Arches and the Vasenhaus, it is among the motifs of the park overview. The Förderverein (support association) also documents, among other things, the Ruinenbrücke, Fürstensitz, Elbpavillon and Wallwitzburg. Not every structure and every sculpture needs its own page: a well-organised series of images can convey the relationships better.

The photographic view of the place
For the planned series of images, an orienting overall view and closer shots are meant to come together. What matters is not the number of images, but what each one contributes to understanding the place. What lines run through the image? Where do built form and vegetation meet? What changes between a wide view and a detail? The photographer’s personal observations complement the selected images.

Other sites in the Garden Kingdom
The Overview of the Garden Kingdom Dessau-Wörlitz connects the sites. Thematically related are Großkühnau and Kühnau Park and Mosigkau. These connections are intended as suggestions for further discovery, not as a fixed route.
Photographs in the Garden Kingdom Calendar
A selection of original photographs from the Garden Kingdom appears in the Garden Kingdom Calendar. The calendar pages show which specific motifs are included in the available edition. The available formats can be found in the calendar shop.
