Mosigkau Palace and its garden form their own focus within the Dessau-Wörlitz Garden Kingdom. The grounds combine Rococo architecture, a significant painting collection and varied garden spaces. For a photographic exploration, it is worthwhile alternating between views of the palace, the garden space and detail.

Understanding palace, park and landscape
Mosigkau Palace and the Gallery Hall
The palace was built as a summer residence for Anna Wilhelmine of Anhalt-Dessau. Its classification as a Rococo ensemble is well documented. The Gallery Hall displays Dutch and Flemish paintings in a historical hang. A later series of images should clearly distinguish between exterior views and – where suitable own photographs are available – interior spaces.
Palace park, orangeries and maze
The garden includes orangeries and a maze. Potted plants link the architecture with the horticultural use: the orangeries serve to overwinter them. For images, both the orderly garden spaces and the contrast between open areas and denser greenery are of interest. A motif should not appear only as an isolated object, but wherever possible also within its surroundings.
Chinese House and other garden buildings
The Chinese House, also known as the tea house, is documented as a motif in official Garden Kingdom publications. It initially belongs in the shared park overview. Pavilions and other smaller structures will be covered in a supplementary series of images once securely attributed. Splitting the content into numerous short individual pages would weaken the coherence of the grounds.
The photographic view of the place
For the planned series of images, an orienting overall view and closer shots are meant to come together. What matters is not the number of images, but what each one contributes to understanding the place. What lines run through the image? Where do built form and vegetation meet? What changes between a wide view and a detail? The photographer’s personal observations complement the selected images.
Other sites in the Garden Kingdom

The Overview of the Garden Kingdom Dessau-Wörlitz connects the sites. Thematically related are Oranienbaum and Georgium Dessau. These connections are intended as suggestions for further discovery, not as a fixed route.
Photographs in the Garden Kingdom Calendar
A selection of original photographs from the Garden Kingdom appears in the Garden Kingdom Calendar. The calendar pages show which specific motifs are included in the available edition. The available formats can be found in the calendar shop.
